Online Small Businesses in Kenya

As the cost of living continues to scale higher and higher with no much increase of income, alot of Kenyans have resorted to side 'jobs' or 'side hustles' as we know them. We are becoming like the overseas countries where people work 2-4 jobs a day, only in our case we have the usual 8am-5pm job and then the 'side hustles' commence. For some people its to feed their over the top living standards and for most it's to 'survive'.

With several mouths to feed clothe and take to school it is no wonder that this trend is picking up pace on a large scale. On my many internet quests I stumbled across a group on facebook called Soko Kuu (Big Market, directly translated, but maybe meaning, a large scale market where you can find anything, legal that is),  https://www.facebook.com/groups/sokokuu. I am practically amazed at how resourceful we can be as Kenyans (wish the government tried to enhance this other than frustrate its people, we would be so far as a country),very hardworking and quite bold if you ask me.

The site does have alot of ladies and as I came to find out, a subsequent group also exists called 'Soko Nyeusi' (translated to black market, yeh i didn't want to dwelve on that much) which is now the hub of men, with their many gadgets up for sale. I have to say that all those men and women out there doing genuine business (well unfortunately not all are) need a standing ovasion. Keep up the great work guys, hope on and think 'excellence'.

Alot of temptation comes in to spend money on things we did not even budget for but hey, self discipline ladies, right! As often as you are able to exercise it, I did end up buying 2 lovely pairs of 'boyfriend blazers' that were absolutely not in my budget, am yet to wash and wear them but, as we all think, well we most likely don't think once we part with money we were meant to use on something else, to avoid the GUILT feeling.

Cudos to the guys who came up with the idea, you have helped many pay debts/fees/bills and am sure you have also helped create more debt for the shoppaholics, ha! Best advice would be for the shoppaholics to check updates only once a week, if the offers are too good, atleast you'll be sure someone already bought it before you did.

So as we live life, by enjoying it not by creating too much overambitious and thus draining goals, PLAN will be the advice I will take and give. If you see that beautiful cutlery/duvet/dress/top/shoe/trouser/phone/chair/table/electronic that you just have to have but you don't have the money, ADVICE, let it go, yours will come at the appropriate time.
